《小东西》将影片背景设在遥远偏僻的内蒙古大草原，一个西方游客借宿在一个中国牧民的家里，发生了一段中西方文化的碰撞。出演主角的画家毛焰和他的模特Thomas是合作了10年的搭档，在当代艺术圈成了独特的现象。影片最后回到毛焰的画室，语境变了，但碰撞仍在继续，而一个自称来自外星的人却被毫不犹豫地排斥在外。

My project was to come as close as I could to the stream of consciousness of someone reflecting on a recent breakup. How Jean deals with guilt, pain and in the end blind anxiety, was the most important part of the story, thus voluntarily deconstructed with a mix of techniques, hectic editing and bursts of humour.
